Now Thats Sexy - Will - An Incredible Mind

You know I've never been much of a Will Smith fan, but his last two movies left me stunned. That's talent. "7 Pounds" was a creative turning point for me personally, I adored what he did with his character. It wasn't a successful movie, but it moved me to the core. I was pretty astounded. And before that, I was riveted by "I Am Legend". I mean, really. For an actor to capture your attention, ONE ACTOR, for 2 hours is quite a feat. Lets face it, you MUST have something to star in a movie, where you are primarily the only character, and still put butts in seats. I cannot recall any other actor that did that! Who is this guy really? I watched this video on You Tube and was...well, turned on. There I said it. This video is what I call sexy. A freaking brilliant mind with focus and incredible faith in what's possible...

Very Very Inspiring guys! You gotta watch it!

Suzanne In The City - Now Thats SEXY

I've been a bit preoccupied lately.  Yes, by boys.  Well, it is spring after all.  Not that I need a reason,  its one of my favorite pastimes as you well know.  I remember a good friends husband introducing me once to a someone at a party saying, "This is Suzanne, she's really talented, and she really likes boys".  I laughed my head off!  (um, I know I don't have to say this but just in case there are some new readers -  when we say "boys" we mean "the adult male of the human species" but its way more fun saying "boys" then that mouthful!)

Recently while discussing the afore subject with a girlfriend, we hit on inevitable sister subject of "He's hot, he's not".  Having a flash back, I remembered a time some summers ago when me and my best gay boyfriend  played the cafe "Sex and The City" game of marking off (on a napkin) who you would sleep with as guys walked by.  I was surprised at how low my "yes" column was.  Really, I had like 3 and we were at a very, very, busy outdoor cafe downtown - during lunch hour!   He had like 48 of course (SLUT)!  Just goes to show you, what's one persons "mmmm" is another persons "meh".

So, feeling a blog post coming on, I decided to present to you my week long "What's SEXY To Me" for your enjoyment.  You know, cause you might want to send me some of this sexiness in the mail.  Or at least it will get you thinking about your idea of sexy.  Or better yet, it might get you feeling sexy.  Which is my world wide wish for every living human being on the planet. That and the equally import ending of world hunger, illness, poverty...yada yada. Now,  go ahead : TOPIC - What's sexy to you?  Put on your name tags and talk amongst yourselves.

Lets begin with the ultimate Sexy SEX VIXEN CLOTHES.
I am beyond bored with seeing Britney Spears, short tight skirts and low bustier or halter tops!  SEXY NOT! BORING!  Nothing sexy, nothing, sensual, and waayy too over exposed.  This is my idea of Sexy Sex Kitten wear.

Rachel Weisz for Esquire
Now thats sexy, not trying too hard, not showing every freaking thing, just
"Oh, you caught me relaxing before I put on my skirt, ohhh maybe, I shouldn't
put on my skirt lover wink, wink."

Rachel Weisz for GQ magazine.
(Girlfriend knows what works for her!)
A peek of a bra, relaxed tied shirt and legs in high heals.  I much prefer the
fish net hose like below, but thats probably cause my legs are far from
perfect (well they are perfect for walking, but you know what I mean) and the fishnets make them appear perfect.  Some women wish for bigger boobs, I've always wished for longer perfect legs like my mum.
Why didn't she pass that along?!  Greedy!

Sexy huh?  I love those 60's like shoes.  Again..just relaxing and feeling
a little naughty!  Sexy!

Amerie
Continuing with my, I cant find my pants/skirt theme,
here is someone else who plays it well.  Amerie!
Fishnets, high heals and Sexy!

I've noticed a hair makeup trend with my idea of sexy.
1960's big hair, with soft waves and cat eyeliner.

I think this all comes from watching movie musicals as a kid.  When they were in rehearsals they all showed toned legs and wore the body suits.  Always my idea of hot.  Like on of my all time favorites Ann Margaret

Ann Margaret - Viva Las Vegas

Fun, Hot, SEXY

Ok, I'm gonna go work out now. I wanna be able to wear this outfit and show you in a month.  Gimme those legs!

Now go get you some.

FASHION: Look Of The Week

Zac Posen launched his line for Target this week.  My top fav look comes in care of Zac worn by Ginnifer Goodwin.

I really like this look.  Yeah, its black, but the silver and white accessories look sleek.
She looks like a fashionable pauper from a Dickens novel :)

Can your makeup be anymore perfectly simple?
Can your skin be anymore zitless?

Now, go ge.....um... wait a sec.  You know I love you guys, and but I notice that only a couple of you have taken part in the pole.  What cha waiting for?  Are your shoes on too tight? Your making my boys look bad!  Now I want to see your cursors clicking, I want some action!!!!  THERES ONLY ONE DAY LEFT, THERES ONLY ONE DAY LEFT!!!!!

FASHION: Coach Bags

I've got a bit of bag love currently going on.  I've never been a bag girl.  Don't know why, I mean I should be because I'm always running around the city on foot which gives me ample opportunity to show off a funky bag, you know, unlike car girls who's bags only see the light of day once arrived at the destination.  Maybe because of my old black clothes self I've never been that excited about my bags.  They've always been black.  How exciting is that?  But I've changed! I find myself peering into store windows at colorful fabulous bags.  And sooo many choices.  A few years ago my mum and I went shopping and stopped by Coach and she ooo'd and awww'd around the bags and I just wanted to know where the food court was.  My sister recently got a colorful bag for her birthday and all of a sudden I've been getting all tingly...  I'm all of a sudden BAG CRAZY.

My sis and her Simply Vera Wang

So, I've been going on line and dreaming.  I admit I'm still an amateur when it comes to the delicate art of bag appreciation, but I'm learning quickly.  I think these might be hot.  What do you think?

Coach
I looooove this one.  Has my name all over it!  Heres a closer view:
Coach
Love it!  Its got blue lining, but THE PRICE!! I mean really!
My bags cost $30.00 bucks!

Coach
Pink, me likey
Coach
Ok, yes it is black, but its fabulous!
And I would get the green, if I were a millionaire!
Hers a closer view....
Coach
I love the pockets on the outside!  (Sigh)

Aren't they fabulous?  Which should I buy when I win my millions?

Deliciousness! Vietnamese Salad care of Gwyneth

FINALLY! I have found a new boyfriend!
Its this salad!
Oh my gosh! I finally made it today and wonder where its been all my life! Hello Gorgeous!!!

I saw it on Gwyneths "GOOP" blog and thought "that looks goooood. I do like those flavours, but Bok Choi and Napa Cabbage raw??!! Surely you jest! But, HELLO! It was curling the toes fantastic! I'm gonna make it every stinking day!!! Now, all that chopping did take FOREVER but it was so worth it! You gotta try it!
I thought I would film a video for you, but whateva. Just watch Gweneth below.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Note: in my salad I forgot the Watercress, which I love! Curses! Will definitely add lots of it the next time.
My Version

Ummm sooo goood!

And I don't like carrots so I didn't add them, but on the next go around (tomorrow) I'm going to add some grated beets, for sweetness and color. Also, I omitted the nuts since I'm allergic and I substituted stevia for the Agave Nectar. Still beyond delish!

Your directions and shopping list:

Vietnamese Salad

This healthy, quick salad is crunchy and has lots of refreshing flavors. It’s wonderful on its own and also takes well to simply prepared proteins; grilled fish, shrimp, chicken or tofu are great options.
SERVES: 4
TIME: 15 minutes
  • 4 large bok choy leaves, rough bottoms discarded, stems cut into ¼" bias and leaves shredded
  • 4 big leaves Napa cabbage, shredded
  • 1 bunch watercress (discard thick stems), roughly chopped
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into matchsticks
  • the leaves from about 8 stems each basil, mint, cilantro, roughly chopped
  • ½ small cucumber, thinly sliced on the bias
  • 1 red Thai chili (or more…or less), thinly sliced
  • ½ cup roasted, salted peanuts, roughly chopped
  • Vietnamese Dressing (see recipe below)
  • grilled fish, shrimp, tuna, chicken, or tofu for serving (optional)
Toss the bok choy, cabbage, watercress, carrot, herbs, cucumber, chili and ¼ cup of the peanuts together with enough dressing to coat. Serve sprinkled with the remaining peanuts and whatever protein you like.

Vietnamese Dressing

A perfect balance of hot, sour, salty and sweet, this dressing is like a flavor knockout—also a great dip for summer rolls.
SERVES: about 4
TIME: 5 minutes
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • ¼ cup fish sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon hot pepper sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced red onion or shallot
Mix everything together.

Now go make you some!

FASHION IN THE CITY - Interview with Mireille Urumuri

www.mireilleurumuri.com

Continued from yesterday, here is my promised Fashion interview with the fabulous Mireille Urumuri! Enjoy!

Suzanne: What does fashion mean to you?
Mireille: I think Fashion is one of the many ways that one can express oneself, one's beliefs and make certain statements.

Suzanne: When did your own personal style begin to take shape?
Mireille: At a very young age actually. I was looking into some of my mother's photo albums with my sisters and I just loved everything she was wearing. I guess I realized then that you could communicate very much without speaking just by wearing certain things in a certain way.

Suzanne: Can you remember your first outfit or piece that you adored wearing?
Mireille: There was this white puffed up dress with these big bright fruits drawn all over it. It was sleeveless and my younger sister had an identical one. I absolutely loved that dress and I think that's where my love for dresses came from.

Suzanne: Do you have any favorite designers?
Mireille: I admire a lots of designer but the one that just popped into my head is Elie Saab :)

Suzanne: Where are some of your favorite places to shop?
Mireille: I really like thrift stores for clothes that already have their own personality and a stories. In Vancouver I like Main street for local unique pieces. Then there is winners and Bedo.

Suzanne: What person has influenced your personal style?
Mireille: Most definitely my sisters. Without them I would not have any style at all :)

Suzanne: What celebrity has a style sense that you admire?
Mireille: Wow, that is a tough question. There are so many. Here are a few: Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana, Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Monica Bellucci ...

Suzanne: When putting together an outfit for an important event or for your day to day, what matters to you most?
Mireille: For an important event: I like it to be polished, classic with a twist. For a day to day: I like it to be comfortable and warm. What matters the most for me is quality.

Suzanne: In your wardrobe, what part do accessories play?
Mireille: I don't wear a lot of accessories but I always have a pair of earrings on.

Suzanne: How important is fashion in regards to your career?
Mireille: I think it is fairly important when attending events because your outfit says a lot about you. it's a little bit like in Blink - The power of thinking without thinking by Malcolm Gladwell :)

Suzanne: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Mireille: On a Feature Film Set in a remote location around the world in which I will have a leading role. :) Fingers (and toes) crossed :)

Suzanne: What do you enjoy about modeling?
Mireille: I really like the whole collaborative aspect of a photo shoot. The photographer, the Make Up Artist, the Hair dresser, the designer... I've learn a lot about cameras and lighting while modeling which I really like. The bonus is I get to learn a lot about my body shape and about how to apply Make Up on myself.

Suzanne: What do you love about acting?
Mireille: I love absolutely every single thing about acting.I've learned so much about life, humans and the world because of acting. When I get a script I do a lot of research. I research the place where everything takes place, the time period, the people of that period, their politics, their history and the history of their country and cities, their Fashion, their food, their philosophies....everything. And then I get into the character which allows me to travel to those places, see those people, eat their food which makes me feel like I am there. There is this whole internal shift inside that makes me do what I like the most : Tell a story. And at the end of the day, stories are what fuel my life. Modeling allows me to tell a story from the outside in but acting allows me to tell the story from the inside out. I could go on an on for hours about why I love acting so I'm going to stop right now before I make a novel out of this :) There is a whole process and I still have a lot to learn before I am ready for that Leading role I told you about in 5 years. It's all about the process :)
Keep your eye out for this lovely lady! Girl go to the Tyra Banks show and sit in the front. Tyra will probably discover you and put you on ANTM! And from there, features! And then the WORLD! Ooooohhh! My spidee sense says that we will be seeing a lot of Mireille in the future. Waaayyy sooner than those 5 years! You ROCK sista!

Now, go get you some!

Vancouver's Got Talent - Mireille Urumuri

Freaking fabulous name, freaking fabulous woman! Mireille Urumuri.

I met Mireille some time ago at an audition and ran into her several times around town, yet had no idea she needs to be Canada's Next Top Model! Holy cow! Girlfriend is breathtaking. Not only does she give great pose, but shes also a writer and actor! I'm green with faux envy that shes going to New York to study! Well, maybe I'll got to when I win the lotto, but for now, I will have to live life vicariously through her! Check out these freaking amazing pictures. Clearly she has been stealing my poses;)

Funny, I look exactly like this when I get up in the morning.

I think this one is my favorite! Beautiful!

Nigel Barker thinks this one has great movement

So cool!!!!

Along with her great looks, high energy and Frenchish/Africanish accent, she is sweet and humble as can be! So cute! When I told her I was gonna feature her on my blog she blushed. Ah to be 21 thin and talented. I'd take over the world! Muhahahhaaa! When will I get my time machine working??!!

Suzanne In The City - Spring Cherry Blossoms in a Grey Day

So that I don't go screaming like a mad woman in a rubber room, I decided to partake in the beauty of Vangroovy Cherry Blossoms.  Spring may suck with the rain, but when you can lay your eyes on such beauty at least I can say, "Well, if it didn't rain so stinking much, we wouldn't have all of this.." Behold, pink amongst the grey....

Hey!  How did that get in there?  Heh heh, just checking that your paying attention! :)
Sea Urchin at my local Japanese restaurant;)

Yeah those blossoms makes weepy eyes, gives me congestion, creates uncontrollable, unfeminine sneezing, but man, isn't all so pretty???

HaHa - Just a Teeny Tyra Show Chuckle

I remembered this little golden ticket when I did my post The Look of the Week a couple of days ago.
Last fall, while I was in fabulous New York, I got tickets to see the Tyra Show.  I was so excited cause to me watching the show live would be like going to a comedy club.  Alas, I forgot my freaking passport and was refused admission.  I was beyond choked.  All that was left of that side stitching funny experience was this little token.  Which made me laugh hysterically when I got it.  Its the call sheet for the show.  I love the Dress Code STRICTLY ENFORCED!! section.
HeHe!
You know, all my stationary has my picture from a fashion shoot on it;)

ACTING: I'm Not A Doctor but I Play One On TV

Doctor, Nurse, Doctor, Lab Tecnictian, Nurse....yeah, thats what I get ALOT of.  Why I wonder?  I have some ideas and even though I complain about it,  I'm happy to be working.  Its great when I get a juicy part that is a cool character that just happens to be a nurse instead of the generic "Doctor, your patient is in room number 3"nurse type roll.  Those usually are referred to as "Nurse 1" or "Doctor 2".  I much prefer the roles that actually have a name like "Dr. Vonner" :)

Over the weekend, I was shooting a commercial for entry into a competiion called "The Reel Challenge". The challenge its to make a movie about protecting content rights.  I can't tell you the story yet, but I promise to show you the finished product when its done.  In the meantime, here are some shots taken on set.

All shots taken by the very funny and fabulously tall producer Jason Goode

Me and the Director Dylan Jenkinson (he was so sweet)

But disagree with him and this is what happens!

The lovely makeup Lady Kalina Beedie
(I did an interview with her in between takes and the sound didn't work!  Curses!!)

"Hi Kalina, what if I just took that lipstick with me?? No?? Just asking.."

On set looking authoritative but kind.

With my patient played by Debbie

"We've got your tests back.  And, well, your mother wears a corset"

"I'm ready for my close up Mr. DeMille"

"I remember when I was a doctor in Africa.  Artists always asked me
to pose in my Doctors uniform just like this..."

FASHION: Look Of The Week

My pick for the best colorful fashion look of the week.

Tyra Banks
Love the tone of the red and the yellow accessories, just a happy look.
I wish there was something on the neck though, but I suppose with such
outstanding bright colors you run the risk of looking garish.
Nice Tyra.
And might I say, I haven't seen her for a while, but girlfriend sure lost weight.

Special Mention goes to Jennifer.  Even though this isn't a bright color ensemble, I love the gun metal skirt.  Cool, sexy and can we say "Perfect Fit".  Thats the thing about Jen, she knows her body and what looks perfect on her.

Simple, casual, beautiful.
She always looks like she just isn't trying too hard.

Now go get you some.
